NORMAN — OU football was ranked No. 11 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.

If the season ended Tuesday, the Sooners would be the first team out of the field.

OU (7-2, 3-2 SEC) is the third highest-ranked team with two losses, sitting above one-loss teams such as BYU and Georgia Tech.

If OU upsets No. 4 Alabama on Saturday (2:30 p.m., ABC) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, followed by wins over Missouri and LSU, the Sooners seem poised to make the playoff for the first time since 2019.

If OU loses one of its remaining three games, it's likely eliminated.

OU's two losses were to No. 7 Ole Miss and No. 10 Texas, which is good for its resume. However, the Sooners likely need the Longhorns to lose once more. OU's best wins are over No. 18 Michigan and No. 23 Tennessee.
