Who will be guest picker for Ole Miss-LSU? Potential 'College GameDay' options

All eyes will be on Mississippi-LSU in Week 3, when Tigers coach Lane Kiffin returns to his former school in a top-10 ranked matchup with ESPN’s “College GameDay” on site.

It’s a huge game to kick off conference play for both programs — not only as a potential resume-boosting win for both teams, but also with the added spectacle of Kiffin coaching against his former team for the first time since leaving a scorching trail on his way out this offseason.

The “College GameDay” crew of Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit will preview the game from Ole Miss’ campus in Oxford, Mississippi, before the mid-afternoon game. Which celebrity guest picker will join them in front of a fired-up crowd?

Here’s a look at a few potential options for “GameDay” when Ole Miss hosts LSU in a drama-filled showdown:

Eli and Archie Manning

The former Manning quarterbacks would certainly get the Ole Miss faithful going. 

Eli and his dad, Archie Manning, are two of the best quarterbacks in program history before both embarked on long NFL careers. Eli and Archie, along with Peyton and current Texas quarterback Arch Manning, make up what’s essentially the first family of NFL quarterbacks.

Getting both on “College GameDay” would be all-time for Rebels fans.

Patrick Willis

How about bringing back one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history, former Ole Miss standout Patrick Willis? The six-time All-Pro was selected No. 11 overall in the 2007 NFL Draft and is now in the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

It’s never a bad idea to bring back a program legend for “GameDay.”

Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman is one of the most famous actors and voices in the world, and just so happens to be an Ole Miss superfan (despite not attending the school). The Academy Award-winning actor is no stranger to Ole Miss sporting events, sitting courtside at multiple basketball games in recent years.

He’s now 89 years old, so it might be a stretch, but he’d be must-watch TV.

Jaxson Dart

It’s unlikely due to the New York Giants being in season, but former quarterback Jaxson Dart is a rising star in the NFL, and one of the best to ever play the position at Ole Miss. He also played for Kiffin during his college career.

The Giants don’t play until Monday, Sept. 21, two days after the Rebels host LSU. Maybe he could sneak away before New York plays the Los Angeles Rams on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.”

Katy Perry

College football fans might not remember when "GameDay" had pop star Katy Perry as the celebrity guest picker for Ole Miss vs. Alabama in 2014. She was the lone panelist to correctly pick the Rebels to beat the Crimson Tide, and earned some love from the fan base after partying with fans after the show.

She had never attended a college football game before Ole Miss-Alabama, and she might just be good luck for the team as it plays its biggest regular-season game in recent memory.
