The Texas Longhorns are the healthiest team in the SEC. Amazingly, Texas has no players on the SEC availability report. Every other team in the SEC has at least two players on the report and at least one player out.
The Longhorns are remarkably healthy entering the Georgia Bulldogs game. A bye week helped Texas have extra time to prepare and get healthy for Saturday night’s game against Georgia (7:30 p.m. ET, televised on ABC).
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian was excited to share with the media that the Longhorns are much healthier in the secondary. Texas missed safety Michael Taaffe, a first-team All-SEC pick, when he was out, but now Taaffe is set to return. Texas has held every opponent under 30 points with Taaffe healthy this season.
The Longhorns face a Georgia team that has several significant injuries. Georgia is without three starters. Georgia safety Kyron Jones, defensive lineman Jordan Hall and wide receiver Colbie Young are all out for the Texas game. Additionally, Georgia will miss freshman contributors wide receiver Talyn Taylor and tight end Ethan Barbour. Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie and defensive lineman Josh Horton are both probable to play against Texas.
Texas is the fourth team to play Georgia after a bye week this season. Georgia is 2-1 this season when their opponents have bye weeks with Georgia earning wins over Florida and Auburn while falling to Alabama. There’s no doubt that Texas’ combination of health and extra time to prepare are significant advantages entering the Georgia game.
