The Oklahoma Sooners have been in a similar position before, and they won’t start hitting the panic button now.

The Oklahoma Sooners just lost two wide receivers who were already committed to their 2027 recruiting class. They lost Tra’Von Hall to Ole Miss on a flip, and Demare Dezeurn decommitted after a falling-out with the staff.

Now there’s an issue-only one wide receiver is committed, and it’s three-star Greydon Howell. The Sooners like the high school quarterback as a receiver. So, what will they do to fill the remaining spots in the 2027 class at the position? They certainly won’t be hitting the panic button.

However, Parker Thune of SoonerScoop made the perfect point: For most of last season, the Oklahoma Sooners had only one receiver in their 2026 recruiting class. It wasn’t until the final three months of the cycle that they got Xavier Okwufulueze, Jayden Petit, and Jahsiear Rogers. There’s still so long to go. National Signing Day is on February 5, 2027, so they still have nearly half a year to get some work done. This staff has been on a roll lately, so you better believe what needs to be done will get done.

Sooners have several wide receivers they have sent offers to in 2027 recruiting class

The Sooners have sent out 30-something offers to wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class. However, 18 of them are already committed elsewhere. Now, that doesn’t mean the Sooners can’t flip those players. But you don’t want to expect something like that to happen.

Currently, the Sooners are not projected to land any of the players they have offered. Once again, that doesn’t mean they won’t be eventually. The Sooners are notorious for getting recruits on campus during visits and completely changing the outlook of a recruitment.

Be on the lookout over the next month or so for how the Sooners get aggressive in their recruiting for a wide receiver, or two.
