As expected, the Wisconsin Badgers were able to flip four-star safety Mekhi Williams from Florida State.

Williams, who decommitted from the Seminoles on Sunday, May 31, re-opened his recruitment and narrowed it down to Wisconsin, LSU, and Nebraska.

Not only did Wisconsin beat out a Florida team for the Rivals300 defensive back, but they also got the best of a fellow Big Ten squad and an SEC powerhouse.

Leading up to his commitment, 247Sports said Wisconsin was “warmer” on his interest list while LSU was listed as “warm”. Less than 12 hours before he announced where he’d be going in 2027, Nebraska was listed as “cool.”

All things considered, Wisconsin had three expert predictions logged that they would land Williams in the moments after he decommitted from FSU.

By the time of his commitment, six expert predictions were logged, four of those being from LSU and Florida State staff writers.

Luke Fickell’s class of 2027 continues to get better, a class that has now added four players in the last four days.
