If there is one area that Notre Dame football has struggled in recruiting the 2027 class, its at linebacker.
There is currently one commit at the position, Amarri Irvin, but on Wednesday one of the Irish’s top targets committed elsewhere. Toa Satele, a 6-foot, 3-inch and 200-pound linebacker made his verbal commitment to Oregon, putting a big question mark on his plans for this weekend.
The nation’s No. 63 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite was scheduled to take an official visit to South Bend this weekend, but it most likely won’t happen anymore. Satele chose the Ducks over the Irish, Texas and Cal.
He made his official visit to Eugene over the weekend, and that was enough to push him to commit. Satele was the one of the top remaining target for Notre Dame at the position, as they’ll now have to look elsewhere to fill his spot.
The country’s top linebacker, Kaden Henderson is still highly considering the Irish, but at the current moment he’s looks like a Miami lean. At this point, it doesn’t look like Notre Dame will land any of the top linebackers in the class, but luckily have some impressive depth already on campus and could go to the portal following the season to fill in any gaps.
