Woman accused of shooting at Rihanna and ASAP Rocky’s home determined mentally fit to stand trial

The woman accused of firing multiple rounds at Rihanna and A$AP Rocky‘s Beverly Hills-area home that struck a trailer the two were inside, as well as a nursery where their three children were, has been determined to be mentally fit to stand trial.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Maria Cavalluzzi ruled Tuesday that all charges filed against Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 36, were “reinstated” during a brief hearing. Ortiz has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges along with a dozen other felony charges related to the shooting that took place in March.
“Based on the evidence, the court finds the defendant is presently competent to stand trial,” Cavalluzzi said.
Ortiz, clad in a yellow prison jumpsuit and handcuffs, did not speak at the hearing. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Police and prosecutors allege that Ortiz drove a Tesla up to the Beverly Hills residence of the power couple and pulled out an AR-15-style rifle and fired at least 20 rounds toward Rihanna and Rocky’s residence and a neighboring property. Bullets were determined to have punctured holes in the couple’s trailer and in a second-story nursery.
The couple’s children were with Rihanna’s mother inside the nursery when Ortiz opened fire, according to investigators.
According to a police report obtained by Rolling Stone, Rihanna pushed Rocky down to the ground once she realized they were being shot at.
“They shooting at us,” Rihanna reportedly told Rocky.
A native of Florida, Ortiz faces 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, one count each for the number of people who occupied both residences at the time of the incident, and three counts of shooting at an occupied vehicle or dwelling.
When she was arrested, Ortiz reportedly told authorities she “wasn’t attempting murder.”
Authorities have yet to reveal if there was a motive for the shooting. Ortiz, a licensed speech pathologist, had no criminal record before the incident, yet began posting erratically on social media leading up to it. In an hour-long YouTube video uploaded in January, she stated, “Listen, Rihanna. When you die, God is taking me to my future. You want to kill me. Shut the f-ck up.”
