BYU is in the midst of a massive official visit recruiting weekend for the 2027, and got a commitment from one of those visitors in athlete/safety Jaxson Rex. Jaxson is the cousin of former tight end Isaac Rex and current running back Preston Rex. His uncle, of course, is former BYU tight end Byron Tex.
The San Clemente, CA native committed to BYU over offers from UCLA, Arizona, Boise State, Washington State, Oregon State, and several others. Rex plays on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and safety. As a wideout last season, Rex hauled in 63 receptions for 856 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. As a defender, Rex recorded 68 tackles and 5 interceptions. According to Greg Biggins at On3, BYU is recruiting Rex to play safety.
Jaxson is the 7th BYU commitment in the 2027 class, and could begin a flurry of commitments with other players who visited with Jaxson to Provo this weekend.
