The Georgia Bulldogs have missed out on four-star running back recruit Andrew Beard, who is a member of the class of 2027. Beard committed to the Florida Gators over Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee and more top college football programs.
Beard is coming off an elite junior season where he posted over 1,800 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns. Beard plays high school football for Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart, Georgia, which is right in the University of Georgia’s backyard.
The 5-foot-9, 200-pound running back prospect is ranked as the No. 165 player in the nation, per 247Sports. Beard the No. 15 prospect in Georgia and the No. 8 running back nationally. Beard is the nephew of former Georgia running back Garrison Hearst.
Beard is the latest strong commitment for Florida. He is part of an April and May recruiting surge for coach Jon Sumrall and the Gators. Florida has 14 commitments in the class of 2027 and the fifth-best recruiting class nationally. The Gators top commitment is five-star offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller.
Florida’s recent recruiting run comes at the same as when Georgia has had some uncharacteristic recruiting struggles. The Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart have just six commitments and recently suffered a pair of major decommitments from five-star cornerback Donte Wright and Jerry Outhouse. UGA has the nation’s No. 31 recruiting class.
