Thomas completed six of his first eight passes for 94 yards and a touchdown, inspiring hope for a comeback, but the nightmare day continued for Lanning’s team as running back Jordon Davison went down with an undisclosed injury.  Raiola finished with six completions for 43 yards and two interceptions. The former five-star prospect and Nebraska Cornhuskers star had negative seven net rushing yards, letting down the Ducks fanbase time and time again.

The game was loaded with turnovers as UCLA and Oregon set a new record for offensive futility. A Dante Moore injury update prior to the game loomed large in Ducks fans’ heads as they continued to struggle at home against a fellow Big Ten team they were expected to beat easily.

Lanning has remained defiant in the face of doubters this season, now Raiola has plenty of his own doubters. The Ducks’ quarterback situation needed help in the worst way and got it from Thomas, but there is still long term concern as to how things will shake out in the future. The Bruins showed Ducks fans, players and coaches they still aren’t up to championship level, and the message was loud and clear. Lanning’s benching of Raiola shows the high standards he has for the position and will remain fresh in his mind for quite some time.
