Expectations were modest and tempered coming into this season for Kentucky Football quarterback Kenny Minchey.

The Notre Dame transfer hadn’t had much starting experience when he transferred to Kentucky, but you wouldn’t have known that with the way he has played this season. The raw talent has always been there, and he’s leading Kentucky to wins against not just good teams, but top-10 teams.

According to Corey Price, Minchey became the first UK QB to hit this stat line in multiple games against top-10 teams.

Minchey has had these performances against Texas A&M and LSU, two teams who entered this season expected to compete atop the SEC. Now, Minchey and the Cats have wins over both of those teams and are 5-1 with a 3-1 record in the SEC.

Saturday against LSU, Minchey was a cool 23/36 for 246 yards with a QBR of 80.9. Through six games, Minchey has 1,148 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just one interception. Four times this season, Minchey has crossed the 250-yard threshold, including three times in SEC play.

Good times.
