Caitlin Clark was tuned in to watch ESPN’s College GameDay programme before the Alabama vs. Georgia game and was surprised to see Nick Saban’s predictions.
Saban, who was head coach of the Crimson Tide for 16 years before retiring from the role in January of 2024, is regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time.
While some have suggested that Saban shows a degree of bias whenever Alabama are a subject of debate, the former head coach has maintained his confidence in the team for years.
Caitlin Clark expresses shock at Nick Saban still picking Alabama to win
Taking to X, WNBA star Caitlin Clark suggested that she was sure that Nick Saban would finally go against his former team and pick the Georgia Bulldogs to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Saban didn’t do that, and after his appearance on ESPN College GameDay, he took to X to respond to Clark and made a strong statement.
Caitlin Clark: “D***, really thought this was the week Coach Saban doesn’t pick Bama.”
Nick Saban: That will never happen, Caitlin Clark! Bama by a mile!”
Not only is Saban the greatest coach in the history of Alabama, but he is also one of the team’s staunchest supporters.
Unfortunately for Saban, his prediction didn’t turn out to be right, as Alabama ended up losing to Georgia in an upset.
While there were some controversial calls during the game, the consensus is that Alabama lost the game because of Dijon Lee Jr.’s penalty late in the game.
Alabama are no longer undefeated, with their loss pushing them down to 5-1. Head coach Kalen DeBoer was understandably frustrated with the way the Crimson Tide lost the game, with his comments to Dijon Lee Jr. in particular garnering a lot of attention.
The Crimson Tide don’t have much time to harp on this loss, as they will look to turn things around in their next game.
Playing against the Tennessee Volunteers will not be easy, as they also share a strong 5-1 record with Alabama, but a win is of paramount importance for DeBoer’s side.
