Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown has been named to the preseason watchlist for the Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

The list features 40 of the top quarterbacks in college football heading into the 2026 season. The Tigers transfer quarterback Brown makes the list after a stellar season at South Florida, where he threw for 3,158 yards and 28 touchdowns. The last time a quarterback for Auburn made the preseason watchlist was in 2021 with Bo Nix.

A total of eight quarterbacks from the SEC are represented on this year's watchlist. The eight are Byrum Brown, Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss), Sam Leavitt (LSU), Arch Manning (Texas), John Mateer (Oklahoma), Marcel Reed (Texas A&M), LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina), and Gunner Stockton (Georgia).

Midseason, there will be a midseason watchlist update on Nov. 5. The winner of the award will be announced on Jan. 27 following the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Brown and the Tigers just wrapped up their fall camp and will face Baylor in week one on Sept. 5 in Atlanta, Georgia, for the Aflac Kickoff game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
