Let’s predict and preview Georgia vs. Oklahoma. Georgia is back Between the Hedges on Saturday afternoon. Some might argue this is the first real game of the 2026 season. Georgia leads the country in points per game so far in 2026. The Dawgs are averaging 59.3 points per game through three games. Sure, the offense has looked great, but 59.3 points is more a symptom of two outclassed out-of-conference opponents and an SEC team still figuring out what it means to compete in 2026.

We had all-white uniforms two weeks ago; this weekend, Sanford Stadium will be striped out for the 3:30 pm kick. We will save you the soliloquy on why a proud, blue-blood program doesn’t need these gimmicks. It’s bad enough that we found out that the home-and-home contests scheduled with Clemson were put on ice this week. So let’s stay positive and lock into Georgia vs. Oklahoma.

After a frantic second half that ended tied at 48, the game went into the first-ever overtime in Rose Bowl history. In the second extra frame, Georgia linebacker Lorenzo Carter blocked a field goal, paving the way for running back Sony Michel to score the game-winning 27-yard touchdown.

What Is Happening with Oklahoma?

Oklahoma comes in 2-1 but is riding the struggle bus. After scoring early and often in Week 1 against UTEP, the Sooners’ offense has gone missing. The Sooners were a no-call-no-show two weeks ago and lost to a Michigan team that had its own offensive struggles. It didn’t get much better in a win over New Mexico last weekend. Oklahoma scored just 14 points. It’s easy to poke fun at offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle and quarterback John Mateer; just check the Sooner message boards.

Kirby Smart wasn’t taking the cheese, though, at Tuesday’s press conference when asked about Oklahoma’s struggles. “It’s not my job to evaluate, criticize, and talk. I have to get our guys ready to play.” Smart said. “I know their players. We recruited almost every one of them. I know the quarterback; I know he has tremendous athleticism; I know the backs; I know the receivers; I know the coaches. I think they have a good team, and we have got to prepare to play against them.”

The vaunted Georgia offense will have its first challenge of the season. Defense is the Sooners’ calling card. It was last year and has been so far to start the year, despite the offensive struggles.  “The way they go about their business, they are violent, they play hard. They play with a purpose; they are very intelligent.” Smart said. “They know what you’re doing as well as you know what you’re doing. They do a great job of formation and things, and understanding your tendencies.” The Sooners rank 18th overall in total defense and are Top 5 in the country in points per game, yards per play, and opponents’ third-down percentage.

So who wins the second-ever meeting between the two teams? Smart quickly shut down any connections to the 2017 Rose Bowl. The staffs and rosters have almost fully turned over by this point. The only importance of that game for Georgia? It got Georgia a national championship appearance. Georgia’s defense should be able to hold serve against Mateer and their anemic run game. The Sooners are ranked #123 in the nation in yards per game. The Georgia offense will have to show it can run and pass against a stout Sooner defense. They find a way. Watch for this one to stay close at halftime and for the Dawgs to find their groove in the second half.
