The Clemson Tigers defense is expected to keep the team in the ACC hunt this season as new offensive coordinator Chad Morris breaks in a new quarterback, either Tait Reynolds or Christopher Vizzina, this fall.
The Tigers added several defenders in the transfer portal and could have three transfers start in the secondary this fall.
Under head coach Dabo Swinney, Clemson has been known for producing quality defensive linemen that go early in NFL drafts. Defensive tackle Peter Woods was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of this year's draft.
On Saturday, the Tigers received a commitment from a four-star defensive lineman.
Per Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, Rock Hill, South Carolina native Seth Tillman chose Clemson over South Carolina, Georgia, and Michigan.
"BREAKING: Four-Star DL Seth Tillman has Committed to Clemson, he tells me for Rivals," Fawcett posted on X. "The 6’4 280 DL chose the Tigers over South Carolina, Georgia, and Michigan. He’s ranked as the No. 11 DL in the 2027 Rivals300."
Fans on social media reacted to Tillman choosing Clemson.
"DL room is full here. Glad he found his way to the smaller school up north. Good luck to him!" wrote a fan.
"Another embarrassing and pathetic recruiting loss by the Great Kirby Smart," posted another.
"(Shane) Beamer needs to start paying rent for his locker!" joked a fan.
Tillman's high school football coach, South Pointe head coach Bobby Collins, wasn't surprised the young defensive lineman chose Clemson, telling Chad Simmons of Rivals that it was a decision that was a long time in the making.
“Seth’s been going to Clemson for a long, long time,” Collins said. “His dad took him there when he was a child. The staff did a really good job throughout the recruiting process, and it’s a place where he can see himself playing and excelling.
"I think it’s a great decision and a great place for him.”
Tillman has wanted to play for the Tigers since he was a child. No doubt, he grew up watching Clemson when they were a dominant force in the ACC, something he could help the Tigers return to when he gets on campus.
