Clemson got the encouraging updates it was looking for Wednesday night as it prepares to host fourth-ranked Miami in a crucial ACC matchup, a perfect opportunity for Clemson to showcase if they are the real deal this season or not.

The ACC released its initial availability report for Saturday’s game, listing seven Clemson players as out and two as questionable. More importantly, multiple Tigers who recently dealt with injuries were out of the report as a whole.

Starting nickelback Corian Gipson, defensive tackle Devarrick Woods and quarterback Christopher Vizzina were not listed as either out or questionable, indicating that all three are available to play against the Hurricanes.

Gipson missed Clemson’s 24-10 victory over California after being limited to two defensive snaps against North Carolina. Head coach Dabo Swinney confirmed Tuesday that Gipson had returned to practice but stopped short of guaranteeing his availability.

“We’ll see, but he’s practicing,” Swinney said. “So, we’ll find out today. He practiced last night, so we’ll see.”

Woods also missed the Cal game after suffering an injury against North Carolina. Swinney described the defensive tackle as “day to day” Tuesday, but his absence from the report is another positive development for a Clemson defensive line already dealing with several long-term injuries.

Vizzina’s availability gives Clemson additional security behind freshman starting quarterback Tait Reynolds. The junior quarterback has been recovering from a left elbow injury suffered against Georgia Southern and did not play in Clemson’s past two games.

Starting left guard Elyjah Thurmon and defensive end Armon Mason are Clemson’s two questionable players. Thurmon left the Cal game after 17 snaps and did not return. Gavin Blanchard replaced him at left guard and played the final 57 offensive snaps.

Clemson listed seven players as out:

  • Safety Polo Anderson
  • Cornerback Shavar Young Jr.
  • Wide receiver Cole Turner
  • Running back David Eziomume
  • Defensive tackle Kourtney Kelly
  • Offensive lineman Mason Wade
  • Defensive tackle Markus Strong

Miami listed six players as out:

  • Wide receiver Joshua Moore
  • Running back CharMar Brown
  • Defensive back Ja’Boree Antoine
  • Defensive back Romanas “OJ” Frederique Jr.
  • Tight end Owen Ruskavich
  • Tight end Luka Gilbert

Hurricanes cornerback Xavier Lucas and linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin Jr. are questionable. Running back Mark Fletcher Jr. and defensive tackle Ahmad Moten Sr., who had both been dealing with injuries, were not listed and are expected to play.

The availability report will be updated throughout the week before Clemson and Miami kick off Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised on ABC.
