Wisconsin running back doubtful for Homecoming game vs. Michigan State

MADISON – The Wisconsin football team is in good shape considering it is coming off the a road game versus a ranked opponent.

The initial Big Ten availability report for the Badgers vs. Michigan State at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Camp Randall Stadium features just nine players, three of whom are listed as ‘out’ for the game.

The only teams in the conference with fewer players listed are Purdue (six) and Iowa (four).

The big name on the report for UW is running back Abu Sama, who is considered questionable. He sustained an upper body injury in the second quarter and did not return.

Michigan State coach Pat Fitzgerald announced Sept. 28 that running back Cam Edwards was done of the season. The senior suffered an apparent knee injury last weekend against Nebraska.

Another notable player listed is linebacker Jordan Hall, the teams' second-leading tackler, who is doubtful.

Wisconsin Badgers

Out: cornerback Cai Bates, receiver Jaylon Domingeaux, offensive lineman Michael Roeske.

Questionable: running back Abu Sama, running back Bryan Jackson, running back Mason Lane.

Probable: offensive lineman Emerson Mandell, tight end Ryan Schwendeman, punter Sean West.

Michigan State Spartans

Out: cornerback NiJhay Burt, running back Cam Edwards, cornerback Keshawn Williams, cornerback Tyran Chappell, fullback Jack Coyne, offensive lineman Tristan Comer tight end Jay Caudill.

Doubtful: linebacker Jordan Hall.

Questionable: cornerback Tre Bell, linebacker Cam Slodghill, linebacker Dion Crawford, linebacker Brady Pretzlaff, offensive lineman Conner Moore, offensive lineman Eli Bickel, defensive lineman Cal Thursh.
