Week 5 of the 2026 college football season produced a number of notable results in the Big Ten.

In the highest-profile matchup of the day in the conference, No. 6 Ohio State went on the road and knocked off No. 14 Iowa, 31-14, thanks to another ridiculous performance from wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who caught 11 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns.

No. 24 Michigan's struggles in its first season under coach Kyle Whittingham continued, with the Wolverines falling on the road to Minnesota, 20-14, in a game in which Bryce Underwood threw for a season-low 101 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Elsewhere, No. 22 Penn State dropped its second-consecutive game after it was thumped by Northwestern, 34-13, in the first game at the revamped Ryan Field, No. 5 Indiana had no trouble with Rutgers in a 47-15 win, No. 18 USC bounced back from a tough loss last week against Oregon with a 25-21 win against a reeling Washington team, Nebraska maintained its undefeated record with a 48-23 victory against Maryland and Wisconsin continued its recent surge under embattled coach Luke Fickell with a 31-3 pasting of Michigan State.

How did those results factor into the latest national rankings?
