The FSU Seminoles have had a great month on the recruiting trail, and they landed their biggest win yet on Wednesday when four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune committed to them.

They faced some stiff competetion for the Poplarville, Mississippi product, with the California Golden Bears and Washington Huskies rounding out his top schools. Despite him officially visiting all three programs, FSU was able to close, and head coach Mike Norvell is a major reason why.

“One thing he always says is, ‘I want to coach you,’” LeJeune told Chad Simmons of Rivals about Norvell. “He doesn’t negative recruit or talk bad about other schools. That’s why I like him so much. He is a great coach, he was a big part of my recruitment and I just love who he is.”

LeJeune is ranked as the No. 125 overall player and No. 12 defensive lineman in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 5 player from Mississippi.

It was a group effort from FSU’s coaching staff to land LeJeune, and he admitted the relationships he built with the defensive staff allowed them to pull away after Cal made a late run.

“My best relationships would have to be with Coach Knighton, Coach Norvell, Coach White and Coach Odell Haggins made a big impact on my decision,” LeJeune told Simmons.

The 6-foot-3, 280-pounder is a great fit for FSU’s 3-3-5 scheme due to his versatility and effort. He finished his junior season with 58 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, five blocked field goals, and an interception he returned for a touchdown.
