Who’s the best college football team in the nation after four weeks?

That depends on who you ask. The official AP CFB poll has the Texas Longhorns sitting at No. 1, yet that’s not how one analyst sees it.

Joel Klatt Names Georgia Bulldogs As CFB’s Top Team

So, if Texas isn’t ranked No. 1 in everyone’s mind, which other team could garner consideration? To no one’s surprise, it’s another team from the SEC.

Recently, college football analyst Joel Klatt appeared on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” and made his case for why the 4-0 Georgia Bulldogs deserve more respect.

“But Georgia, and I think you saw that on Saturday against Oklahoma, they’ve got the ability to just take over a game with their talent, their defense, their ability to turn the football over, and they will still run it as well,” Klatt said.

“I think the two best teams that I’ve seen are probably Georgia and Miami. I don’t put Miami up there yet because they have not played anybody, like anybody. We’ll see maybe when they play Clemson this week.”

While the 4-0 Miami Hurricanes, who have a point differential of +171, have been impressive too, they haven’t faced any ranked opponents.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs recently dismantled an Oklahoma team that entered the season with high expectations, only to be beaten by Michigan in Week 2.

Plus, Georgia has rolled over every opponent it has faced, beating each one by more than two possessions. The Bulldogs’ +166 point differential is just as impressive.

It’s a long season, so who knows? Maybe teams like Miami can still catch up, especially if the Hurricanes are able to put the Clemson Tigers in their place. But for now, Klatt has Georgia sitting at the top as the cream of the crop. In his eyes, they’ve earned it.

The Bulldogs’ next challenge arrives Saturday against what looks to be an overmatched Vanderbilt squad that is 3-1 this season, but is coming off a tough 21-15 loss to Auburn last week.

Once Georgia gets past Vanderbilt, it will face a much bigger test against the Alabama Crimson Tide, who have yet to lose and are currently ranked seventh in the AP poll.

If the Bulldogs are able to cruise to victory over their next two games, it may only be a matter of time before Klatt isn’t the only one singing Georgia’s praises as the top college football team in the nation.
