The Toledo Rockets (2-1) come off consecutive wins as they close out non-conference play by hosting the San Diego State Aztecs (1-2), losers of two in a row, at the Glass Bowl in Toledo.

Toledo came back from 14 points down with 3:08 to play to beat visiting Temple 49-48 in overtime last week. Connor Walendzak scored a one-yard touchdown run to put the Rockets up 49-42 in overtime before Temple got a touchdown on its possession but failed on the two-point conversion going for the win. John Alan Richter threw for 429 yards and four touchdowns while Walendzak finished with 62 yards on 12 carries for two scores and also caught a TD pass.

San Diego State trailed visiting James Madison 19-0 at the half on its way to a 26-13 loss last week. The Aztecs got on the board when Javion Kinnard got into the end zone on a three-yard run in the third quarter and added a touchdown in the fourth quarter when Jayden Denegal connected with Nathan Acevedo on a 14-yard pass play. Kinnard finished with 181 yards on 33 carries and caught four passes for another 70 while Denegal went 18-for-33 for 209 yards and a TD but also tossed two interceptions.

The Aztecs won the only previous meeting between the programs, beating the Rockets 17-14 in San Diego on Sept. 24, 2022. Richter comes in with 877 yards and nine touchdowns for the Rockets, completing 65.6% of his throws with one pick. Walendzak enters with 172 yards and four scores on the ground and Adjatay Dabbs has 16 catches for 223 yards and three TDs. Kinnard has 308 yards and a 5.8 yard-per-carry average for San Diego State while Denegal enters with 391 passing yards to go with four touchdowns and four interceptions.
