Jada Pinkett Smith is seeking a psychological examination of Bilaal Salaam as he pursues a $3 million emotional distress lawsuit against her.

Jada Pinkett Smith is asking a California judge to require Bilaal Salaam, a former friend of Will Smith who is suing her, to undergo a psychological examination as the two sides continue their legal fight over his claims of emotional distress.

The request, detailed in court papers obtained by TMZ, comes after Salaam placed his mental and physical condition at the center of a $3 million lawsuit against Pinkett Smith. He alleges that she threatened and intimidated him, claims that he says caused serious emotional and personal consequences.

According to TMZ, Salaam says the alleged conduct led him to live outside the United States for an extended period because of fear, contributed to the loss of a long-term relationship and affected his physical health. Pinkett Smith’s lawyers argue that those allegations make his mental condition relevant to the case and give her side grounds to seek an independent evaluation.

The proposed examination would reportedly last five to six hours and would be conducted by a psychiatrist. Her lawyers want an opportunity to test the extent and basis of the emotional distress he says he suffered.

The request is the latest turn in a lawsuit that has already narrowed considerably. Salaam sued Pinkett Smith in late 2025, alleging intentional infliction of emotional distress stemming from an alleged confrontation in 2021. He claimed she threatened him after he discussed private matters involving the Smith family and later alleged that people connected to the couple retaliated against him.

Pinkett Smith has denied Salaam’s allegations. Earlier this year, a Los Angeles judge granted her anti-SLAPP motion in part, removing several claims from the case. Court records also show that Salaam’s attempt to amend his complaint was denied in August after the judge found the request untimely.

The dispute has expanded beyond Pinkett Smith. Salaam has sought testimony from Will Smith and has attempted to bring the actor into the wider legal conflict, although the current lawsuit remains centered on claims against Jada.

TMZ’s latest report does not indicate that a judge has approved the requested examination. A hearing is scheduled for Nov. 9.

The psychological evaluation, if authorized, would become another significant procedural step rather than a ruling on whether Salaam’s allegations are true. The underlying claims remain disputed, leaving the court to determine which allegations can proceed and what evidence will be allowed as the case moves forward.
