Billy Napier is off to an incredible start in his head coaching stint with the James Madison Dukes, leading them past the Wagner Seahawks in an offensive blowout on Saturday afternoon.
Napier is going through a restart in his coaching career. Following four great years at Louisiana, he took a big step to the SEC by coaching the Florida Gators. However, he had mixed results as Florida decided to take a different direction, moving on from his servicess.
Napier found his next chapter at James Madison, becoming the coach of a program that made the College Football Playoffs in 2025. Back at a level he is familiar with, it was a chance for him to get back on track as a quality coach.

So far, James Madison is off to a great start with a 2-0 record. They got past Liberty 20-13 then torched Wagner with 87 points, a new record in program history.
How Billy Napier, James Madison performed against Wagner
Billy Napier and the James Madison Dukes are over the moon after dominating Wagner with their offensive display.
James Madison controlled the game from start to finish. They scored 21 or more points throughout all four quarters, something that Wagner was unable to stop in any situation.
Camden Coleman had a solid night at quarterback, completing 13 out of 18 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown. Backup Arrington Maiden got some burn, going 7-for-8 with his passing for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Nick Herman flourished with eight rushes for 132 yards and two touchdowns, while George Pettaway racked up nine carries for 52 yards and three touchdowns. In the receiving game, the trio of Miles Halbert, Za’Ron Collins and Arrion Concepcion caught touchdowns throughout the game.
The Dukes will look forward to their next matchup, being on the road. They take on the San Diego State Aztecs in Week 3 as kickoff commences on Sept. 19 at 10 p.m. ET.
