Kirk Herbstreit shades Pat McAfee over ESPN joint smoking stunt

Pat McAfee might be able to do just about anything he wants while appearing on ESPN, but one colleague is giving the former NFL punter flak for his antics.
The viral sports media personality certainly knows how to stay in the spotlight. Meanwhile, McAfee’s actions took a turn this week during “The Pat McAfee Show” when ESPN viewers noticed a joint he was smoking.
On Thursday, a clip went viral on social media when McAfee was shown live on TV putting out the joint. However, the backlash online has some fans and other media members wondering if ESPN is giving McAfee any boundaries.
Kirk Herbstreit made sure to throw in a jab at his ESPN counterpart during Week 3 of College GameDay. The longtime college football broadcaster threw in a witty response after McAfee posed a question to Nick Saban.

McAfee is always the subject of controversy, but the highly-paid ESPN figure is certainly under more scrutiny recently. Many sports media insiders still believe that the ex-Indianapolis Colts star is in line for a massive contract extension with ESPN.
“Coach, have you ever used any, like, ancient medicine to potentially calm the boys?” McAfee asked Saban on College GameDay. “Like maybe burn some sage?”
Meanwhile, Herbstreit’s shade of McAfee got a laugh from the ESPN cast when he responded, “You do that in the studio.”

Even Saban had his own hilarious comeback at McAfee. The former Alabama head coach joked that he wished he had let his players take “gummies” in order to improve their play.
