“Losing Is Not Funny”: Deion Sanders Dismissing Colorado Players Triggers Former Heisman Winner

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders dismissed several players following a 41-7 loss to the Northwestern Wildcats. Coach Prime cited their conduct as detrimental to the program after he noticed some of them laughing after the defeat.
Sanders said players exhibiting such behavior care more about themselves than the team’s success.
“A year ago, I didn’t put my foot down in it enough,” Sanders said. “It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded. I’m not doing that anymore… I don’t understand how you can have joy in a loss, especially when I’m upset and I’m walking right behind you.”

Sanders’ decision drew support from 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III. He agreed that losing should never be a laughing matter.
Robert Griffin III Speaks Out After Deion Sanders Dismisses Players
Griffin backed Sanders’ actions, saying that laughing after a 41-7 defeat is the quickest way to alienate coaches and teammates.
“Deion is coaching for his legacy, for the betterment of his players, so they can be great players, great men as they move forward,” Griffin said. “So, when he loses, he doesn’t look at that as a laughing matter. It’s not funny.”
“And I can tell you right now, if you don’t care, you shouldn’t be on the team,” he said. “So, I’m with [Deion] on this one. You don’t got to put your foot on it and stomp it out. You got to put your foot in it and kick those guys out. Some of those guys, you might have to kick out the program because clearly it don’t mean nothing to them. And if it don’t mean nothing to them, then why are they there?”
Deion Sanders is 100% justified in kicking “a few guys” off the team for laughing after Colorado lost 41-7 to Northwestern.

The Colorado Buffaloes’ next game is their Big 12 conference opener on the road against the Baylor Bears.
