While the Hurricanes were in the middle of their run to their first national title game since 2003, the transfer portal opened.

Unlike previous seasons, there is only one transfer window this offseason: from Jan. 2 to Jan. 16, which is the last day players can enter the portal. Players can sign with schools after Jan. 16.

Although UM has been busy with the College Football Playoffs, it has been active on the transfer recruiting trail, as well, as the Miami staff looks to build its roster for the 2026 season.

Here is a look at the players who have committed to the Hurricanes this offseason:

WR Vandrevius Jacobs, South Carolina

Jacobs is a Vero Beach native who was a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. Jacobs originally signed with Florida State and transferred to South Carolina before the 2024 season.

Jacobs played 273 offensive snaps in his first season with the Gamecocks, making 12 catches for 181 yards. He became a bigger contributor in 2025, playing 500 snaps and making 32 catches for 548 yards and four touchdowns.

Jacobs, who is listed at 6-foot and 195 pounds, earned a 67.5 receiving grade from Pro Football Focus.

The veteran receiver is a deep-ball threat, earning his best receiving grades on passes 10-19 yards past the line of scrimmage (93.6) and passes 20 or more yards downfield (93.2).

He was listed as a four-star transfer in 247Sports’ transfer rankings.

DB Omar Thornton, Boston College

Thornton is a Broward County native, having earned Sun Sentinel Broward County small schools defensive player of the year honors for the 2023 season while he was at American Heritage. He was a three-star prospect out of high school.

Thornton signed with Boston College out of high school and was a rotational player as a freshman, starting three of the eight games he played in. In 2024, he had 29 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss.

Thornton became the full-time starter this season, and he had 82 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks and an interception. He was credited with 34 stops, which was 12th in the nation. He played a mix of nickelback and safety at Boston College.

The former Eagle does have things to work on. Out of 280 safeties with 500 or more snaps, Thornton’s 20.0 percent missed-tackle rate was 35th-highest.

Thornton was rated a four-star transfer in 247Sports’ rankings.

WR Cam Vaughn, West Virginia

The Hurricanes are bringing Vaughn in from West Virginia. Vaughn was an unrated quarterback in high school and signed with Jacksonville State. He moved to wide receiver whle with the Gamecocks, and after a strong 2024 season, transferred to West Virginia.

Vaughn had 35 catches for 541 yards and four touchdowns with the Mountaineers this season. Pro Football Focus gave him a 66.6 receiving grade. The 6-foot-2 Vaughn was a solid deep threat, earning a 92.7 grade from PFF on passes of 20 yards or more. All four of his touchdowns were on deep passes.
