Michigan football is 3-2 on the year and has struggled so far in Big Ten play. The offense for Michigan has been a train wreck, while the defense has attempted to carry them.

Now, the Wolverines are expecting to add two players in the college football transfer portal, per Pete Nakos of On3.

Former Miami tight end Alex Bauman and former Boise State cornerback Jeremiah Earby officially entered the transfer portal in the last 24 hours, and both are expected to land at Michigan.

Both Bauman and Earby were part of the class of 2022, but were not selected in the 2026 NFL Draft and did not sign to a preseason roster. Based on the rules from the Big Ten, they would be eligible to play for the Wolverines this year.

Bauman played three years at Tulane before a season with Miami in 2025. In four years, he hauled in 81 receptions for 776 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Earby has played much more than Bauman and made a bigger impact with his previous teams. He played two years at Cal before two more seasons at Boise State. Last year, he racked up 60 tackles with six pass breakups and four interceptions. Overall, he had 155 tackles with 32 pass breakups, a forced fumble, and seven interceptions. He also returned a kick for a touchdown with Cal in 2022.

Michigan would not be the only team in the Big Ten with fifth-year players. Indiana has Kellan Wyatt and Stephen Daley, who both were granted fifth years by courts.  If Bauman and Earby do join the Michigan roster, there is no current timeline for them playing for the Wolverines.
