Notre Dame football had its 2027 quarterback, but when Teddy Garrard decided to reclassify to the 2026 class, it left a hole.

It looks like the Irish are going to fill it with one of the top signal callers of the cycle, as On3’s recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong is reporting (subscription required) that he believes Florida’s Wonderful ‘Champ’ Monds will eventually play in South Bend. He even went as far as making a prediction that the 6-foot, 2-inch and 224-pounder will commit when he makes his choice.

Wiltfong noted that Notre Dame has everything that Monds is looking for in a program, on and off the field. During a recent visit, he noted that current starter CJ Carr made a big impression on him, and could see himself playing that role in the future.

Like Grubbs, Monds moved up his timeline by reclassifying from the 2028 class to the 2027, who is also highly considering Florida State and Ohio State. He ranked as the nation’s No. 263 overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite, and would be a great addition for the Irish.
