The Oklahoma Sooners have picked up some momentum in the recruitment of local star tight end Ben Kolar. On Tuesday morning, Sam Spiegelman of Rivals and On3 issued a prediction favoring the Sooners. If Oklahoma could land a commitment from Kolar, it would be another huge addition to the 2027 recruiting class.

Kolar, out of Norman North High School in Norman, Oklahoma, is a four-star tight end according to ESPN and the Rivals Industry Rankings. ESPN has Kolar as the No. 13 tight end prospect in the 2027 cycle and the No. 7 prospect in the state of Oklahoma.

He’s received 32 offers, including 27 Power Four programs from across the country.

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Kolar has good size for the position and brings plus athleticism and receiving skills to the field. Kolar is a versatile weapon on the offensive side of the ball, displaying the ability to line up wide, in the slot, or in-line as a traditional tight end. He displays a versatile route tree and the ability to win at all levels of the passing attack.

He’s a physical player at the point of attack, creating movement in the running game. A two-way player, Kolar also shows off that physicality as a linebacker, which will make him an impact player early in his career on special teams.

The Oklahoma Sooners are looking to double up at the position as they rebuilt their tight end room under new tight ends coach Jason Witten. If he were to choose Oklahoma, he’d join another big-time tight end prospect in Seneca Driver in the 2027 recruiting class.
