The Oklahoma Sooners are still pushing extremely hard for an in-state recruit, and he just showed off at The Opening in Dallas.

The Oklahoma Sooners have a few more players they are awaiting a pledge from in the 2027 recruiting class. One of the players they most want is in-state four-star cornerback Gabriel Osborne.

This week, he was at The Opening’s regional event in Frisco, Texas. At that event, he showed off quite a bit. More importantly, he showed why he could become a five-star by the time he starts college. Parker Thune of Sooner Scoop was at the event and described Osborne’s play in great detail.

“Four-star Mustang (Okla.) CB Gabriel Osborne ranked among the day’s most impressive performers. After losing a couple of early reps, he flipped the switch to lockdown mode for the rest of the day. The highlight of his outing came when he snagged an acrobatic leaping interception away from three-star WR Briceson Thrower. All in all, Osborne put forth an effort that should bolster his case for a fifth star, which has narrowly eluded him to this point,” Thune wrote, as he was in attendance.

Osborne has it all as a recruit-the tools and traits of an elite cornerback. He’s an athlete, too, and he’s incredibly smart. He could end up in Crimson and Cream.

Oklahoma seems to be the favorite to land Gabriel Osborne

Confidence is growing that Oklahoma will land top in-state cornerback Gabriel Osborne. According to On3, Osborne is now expected to choose the Sooners over other finalists, including Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, and Alabama.

Osborne, ranked as the No. 11 cornerback in the 2027 recruiting class and third overall in the state, has been a priority for the Sooners. A star on both the football field and basketball court at Mustang High School, Osborne has shown impressive athleticism as a dual-sport talent. Rivals now predicts that he will commit to Oklahoma.

Nationally, Osborne sits at No. 29 overall, is ranked third in Oklahoma, and fifth among cornerbacks. With Oklahoma already holding commitments from the state’s top two prospects and favored to land Osborne, the roots in their own state continue to grow more than they once were. OU’s 2027 recruiting class continues to gain steam.
