My Thoughts

No offense to the Sycamores, but if Indiana State gives Purdue any resistance, it’s a baaaaad sign for the Boilermakers. That said, I don’t think this will be a game. There are levels to college football, and while Purdue currently sits in the basement of the Big 10, Indiana State resides in the basement of the MVFC. Barry Odom and the Boilermakers have a Big 10-worthy roster this season. This should be a decent warm-up for Purdue. They need to avoid injury and put on a show for the home fans.

One interesting side note is that Brady Allen, Purdue’s former 4* quarterback recruit who left town with Jeff Brohm, is on the Indiana State roster. Allen, a 2022 recruit, has yet to throw a non-garbage-time pass in college football. Elijah Owens is a returning quarterback for the Sycamores and will be the favorite to win the starting job in camp, but maybe Allen finally gets a chance to show off his rocket arm at Indiana State? We’ll know more the week before the game, but either way, it won’t change the outcome. In a different universe, Allen doesn’t leave with Brohm and is Purdue’s starting quarterback for the game. I honestly feel bad for the dude; all that talent, and he hitched his wagon to a coach who is notorious for not starting quarterbacks he recruits.

This is the only “fun” game on the schedule; enjoy it. The other 11 will be significantly more stressful.
