Ohio State's 2027 recruiting cycle may have a new added twist. Current quarterback commit Brady Edmunds was announced by Hayes Fawcett to be visiting the UCLA Bruins this upcoming weekend, calling into question his Buckeye future.
Edmunds, a four-star prospect from Huntington Beach High School in California, has been committed to Ohio State since December 2024 after earning an offer at a Buckeyes camp the previous summer. Edmunds stands at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds and fits the profile of a prototypical pocket passer with a powerful arm that could stress out defenses.
The 247 Sports Composite has Edmunds ranked as the No. 224 prospect in the country and the No. 18 quarterback overall in his class. Over the past three seasons, Edmunds has surpassed 8,600 passing yards with over 100 touchdowns.

In terms of recruiting, Edmunds was not only a centerpiece of the Ohio State class but had become a peer recruiter. His upcoming visit to UCLA, however, suggests that everything might not be set in stone yet. The in-state Bruins continue their search for a quarterback in this cycle and will attempt to flip one of the West Coast's most coveted arms. UCLA offensive staffers have increased their presence around Edmunds this spring, and have apparently become successful in being the first school the quarterback will visit since committing to Ohio State.
For Ohio State, this weekend becomes intriguing and another example of how early quarterback commits are not usually the end of the story. If Edmunds does indeed flip on his official visit this weekend, Ryan Day will have to pivot and find a new signal-caller to target in the class.
