Rutgers has made one final addition to its roster ahead of training camp.
Four-star running back Aiden Gibson has flipped from Penn State and has committed to Rutgers, according to multiple reports. Gibson will enroll at Rutgers immediately and join the team for the 2026 season.
Gibson will reclassify to join Rutgers right away but he was previously ranked as the No. 8 running back and No. 142 recruit overall in 2027. He would have been the highest-ranked recruit for the Scarlet Knights in 2027 but gives them another high-level player right away.
Rutgers was in the mix initially for Gibson as he made multiple visits to campus. He committed to Penn State following a late push but will ultimately end up in Piscataway.
The product of South Carolina will come to a program that has had multiple running backs make an impact at the next level. Long gone are the days of Ray Rice and Brian Leonard but Rutgers has sent RBs to the NFL in recent years.
Isiah Pacheco and Kyle Monangai were both drafted after starting at Rutgers for multiple years. Both players had an immediate impact for their respective teams. Antwan Raymond rushed for 1,241 yards last season and is back in 2026 to lead the depth chart. He could be next in line of draft picks out of the Rutgers backfield.
