Two Future Spartans Named to Michigan All-State Team

The annual Rivals Michigan Preseason All-State High School Football Team was announced by Allen Trieu on Friday afternoon. With it, two incoming Spartans were named to the prestigious team and are ready to make an instant impact next year for the Green and White. Before that, however, they’ll have one last season to showcase their football abilities for their respective high schools.

As August sweeps out the final remains of the 250th anniversary celebrations for America, the nation starts to adjust its eyes toward the near future.

As the bright lights of Friday night football reenter everyone’s hearts, there are two names in particular that stand out for Spartan fans before any football games have even been played. Two names who highlight some of Michigan’s best high school football players, according to Rivals.

Grant Aldoff – East Grand Rapids – iOL

At 6-foot-4 and 272 pounds, high school senior Grant Aldoff is one of the bigger offensive linemen in Michigan. He turns heads with his physical style of play while also displaying the quick feet that make him an intriguing prospect at the interior offensive line position.

Aldoff is currently ranked by 247Sports as a high-end three-star recruit. He is the 43rd-best interior offensive lineman in the 2027 class and the 12th-best recruit out of the state of Michigan.

There are five total offensive linemen on the Rivals 2026 Michigan Preseason High School All-State Team, but of those five, only three have already committed. Aldoff is committed to Michigan State, while the other two committed players are Louis Esposito, who chose Michigan, and Caleb Pugh, who committed to Indiana.

With a composite score of 0.8711, which combines the major recruiting sites for a consensus ranking, Aldoff is ranked as the 939th-best player in the 2027 class.

Regardless of the current recruiting rankings, Aldoff is a massive addition to the future Spartans offensive line, a position that has been a high priority for new head coach Pat Fitzgerald and his staff.

Don Spillers III – Martin Luther King – DB/WR

The second player listed on the Rivals 2026 Michigan Preseason High School All-State Team is Don Spillers III, one of four defensive backs named to the all-state team.

Spillers enters his senior season listed at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds and is one of the more watched prospects in the state. His commitment is a huge addition for Fitzgerald and his staff heading into next season, and Spillers has already shown a willingness to help recruit, reportedly working to bring some of his friends to the Spartans as well.

Spillers is ranked as the 14th-best recruit in the state of Michigan with an 87 rating via 247Sports. He is also ranked as the 63rd-best athlete in the 2027 class.

While Spillers will likely be more utilized as a defensive back, his ability to catch the ball and make plays with the ball in his hands shows a real possibility of becoming a top offensive target as well.

That versatility is part of what makes Spillers such an intriguing addition to Michigan State’s future. Whether he is making plays in the secondary or finding ways to contribute on offense, the Spartans are bringing in a player with the ability to impact the game in multiple ways.

The Spartans have two players ready to make a huge impact during their final high school seasons before making the move to East Lansing.

Fitzgerald has put a huge priority on recruiting for the future, and these two players are two of the top recruits coming to Michigan State and two of the top recruits in the entire state of Michigan.

For now, though, both Aldoff and Spillers still have one more chapter to write under the Friday night lights.

High school football brings out the best in these young men, and with just a few weeks remaining before the season kicks off, it’s safe to say:
