UCF vs Houston Prediction: Can Scott Frost's Knights Be Big 12 Players?

NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...

With one 21-13 win over TCU, UCF gave itself a chance to become one of the hot teams in the Big 12 if it can pull off something special in Houston against a Cougar team that desperately needs this.
Houston was, and still is, supposed to be deep in the Big 12 title chase, but a tough 28-26 loss at Texas Tech a few weeks ago means there’s no margin for error considering what’s happening the rest of the way in conference play.

Why UCF Will Win
What is UCF doing right in this 3-1 start? Takeaways and turnover margin. The offense has only given it up four times. The defense has forced nine turnovers, and in this, the team has to be +2 against a Houston offense that gave the ball away six times over the last three games.
The Knight offense won’t explode, but it needs Keyone Jenkins – filling in for an injured Alonza Barnett, who’s out with a hamstring injury – to be as sharp as he was against TCU, hitting 19-of-20 passes for 160 yards and a score.
Why Houston Will Win
Get scoring early, and make UCF chase.
Houston doesn’t have to go fully conservative, but the running game didn’t do anything against Pitt or TCU, and as good as Jenkins was against TCU, the mistakes will come if he has to press.
Yes, the loss to Texas Tech hurt, but Houston was right there. It battled hard, scored late, and didn’t hit the two-point conversion in the 28-26 loss. As long as it doesn’t start giving the ball away in bunches, it should be fine.
UCF vs Houston Prediction, Betting Lines
This might be a big moment for UCF, but it still doesn’t have the attack that can rip off big things against a defense that’s as good as Houston’s.
The Cougars are No. 1 in the nation in third down conversions – hitting at a 71% clip – and UCF won’t be able to get off the field enough to get control of the tempo.
Houston 31, UCF 20
