USA Today releases college football top 25 coaches poll after Week 2

USA Today officially released the latest top 25 coaches poll after Week 2 of the 2026 college football season concluded on Saturday.

Saturday featured some great games, including Oregon-Oklahoma State, Oklahoma-Michigan and Ohio State-Texas. Sixth-ranked Oregon was upset by Oklahoma State 39-31, Michigan stunned No. 11 Oklahoma, and No. 4 Texas came back from 23-3 down to beat No. 1 Ohio State 24-23.

Those results helped shape the coaches’ poll, with Texas now No. 1. Georgia is No. 2 in the poll, followed by Notre Dame, Indiana and Miami to round out the top five. All four of those teams won their games this weekend.

About the coaches poll

“The US LBM Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools,” USA Today writes. “The panel is chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.”
