One of the Bulldogs’ most experienced defensive linemen is no longer on the roster and has left the team according to multiple reports.
Georgia senior defensive tackle Xzavier McLeod is no longer with the team. McLeod is no longer listed on the team roster on Georgiadogs.com. According to a report from Jordan Hill at Dawgs247 McLeod posted on social media last week ithat he was “done with football” and “retired.”
McLeod appeared in all 14 games last season for Georgia, making six starts. The Camden, South Carolina native posted 17 tackles, 6 quarterback pressures and 2 pass break-ups. Georgia has a host of promising defenders including sophomore Elijah Griffin, juniors Nasir Johnson and Nnamde Ogboko, and freshman Valdin Sone. Seniors Jordan Hall and Josh Horton are also in line for significant snaps (especially Hall if he can stay healthy).
But McLeod , who’s spent the past two seasons in Athens after playing as a freshman at South Carolina in 2023, playing in 29 games, looked like he was going to be a major piece of the puzzle up front for the ‘Dawgs. At a minimum his departure forces Coach Tray Scott to rely a little more on some younger Bulldogs to grow up a little quicker.
