Washington football offers elite 2028 Mississippi RB

The Washington Huskies are looking to take some big swings at running back in the 2028 class, and position coach Scottie Graham extended an offer to one of the nation's best ball carriers in an attempt to bring more high-end talent to Montlake's backfield.

On June 24, four-star running back Zaiden Jernigan, a product of Louisville High School in Mississippi, who is ranked as the nation's No. 51 overall prospect and No. 2 running back in the 2028 class by the 247Sports Composite, added an offer from the Huskies to a long list of national suitors.

He now holds 26 offers, with Alabama, Florida, Indiana, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and many others all in pursuit of his services.

Through two years at the high school level, Jernigan has been one of the most productive runners in the country. He's compiled 3,361 yards and 47 touchdowns on the ground and added 33 catches for 471 yards and 7 additional scores while showcasing a skill set that could make him an instant-impact player at the next level.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, Jernigan is excellent at weaving his way through traffic and tight spaces, while possessing the contact balance to break tackles and create extra yards in scenarios where it looks like he may be wrapped up for a minimal gain. Combined with his explosive speed and ability as a pass catcher, he has the makings of a future three-down back at the college level.

During his time at Washington, Graham has had a lot of success on the recruiting trail, most notably with four-star Brian Bonner in the 2026 class and four-star Jeremy Adeyanju in 2027. Now, with his sights set on 2028, Jernigan could emerge as a priority target for Graham, Jedd Fisch, and the Huskies.
