Oklahoma Sooners drop in new recruiting class rankings from 247Sports

The Oklahoma Sooners, led by general manager Jim Nagy and head coach Brent Venables, have put together quite the recruiting class in the 2027 cycle. OU has 26 pledges in all, with 13 commits on offense, 13 commits on defense, and zero commits on special teams.

However, despite a strong class, the Sooners saw a drop in the team recruiting class rankings from 247Sports. They ranked Oklahoma’s current haul as the fourth-best in the nation, behind Texas A&M, Notre Dame, and Miami.

OU’s class only got stronger with the Friday pledge of defensive back Bode Sparrow out of the state of Utah. Sparrow was a player that the Sooners had really honed in on. He’s a versatile athlete who likely projects as a safety in Venables’ defense.

The Sooners hope they’re far from done in the ’27 class, with a few other targets they are currently very high on. It’s the first full cycle for Nagy and Venables together, and the results have been impressive to this point. With half a year remaining until the Early Signing Period, a strong 2026 season on the field could boost this recruiting class even higher for Oklahoma.
