Auburn football opened the week by landing the commitment of a three-star offensive tackle in Rance Brown, who chose the Tigers over Kentucky on Monday. Will Auburn’s good fortune continue Tuesday with another quality commitment?
Four-star EDGE rusher Jackson Vaughn will announce his commitment on Tuesday evening, and Auburn is among the teams remaining in the race, joining LSU, South Carolina, Miami, and Notre Dame. How good should Auburn feel about its chances to land the talented EDGE rusher?
Auburn trails favorite Notre Dame heading into Tuesday’s commitment, with recruiting insiders from both Rivals and 247Sports projecting the Fighting Irish to come out as the winner of Vaughn’s recruitment. However, four-star offensive lineman Layton von Brandt committed to Auburn earlier this month despite trending heavily to Notre Dame before his announcement, so Auburn is not completely out of the running for the EDGE rusher from New Jersey. Vaughn told Chad Simmons of Rivals in a recent interview that he felt Auburn provided a schematic fit for him, and that has kept Auburn near the top of his recruitment.
Vaughn is the No. 25 EDGE rusher from the 2027 recruiting class according to Rivals’ composite rankings, and ranks No. 5 from the state of New Jersey. Auburn jumped to No. 26 in 247Sports’ 2027 recruiting rankings following the commitment of Rance Brown on Monday, and a commitment from Vaughn would certainly keep the Tigers’ good fortune alive.
