Clemson QB Christopher Vizzina Can't Possibly Be Blamed for This

It's really hard to pinpoint the Clemson Tigers' biggest flaw after their 51-10 humiliation at the hands of the LSU Tigers on Saturday night.

It was the worst loss of Swinney's head-coaching tenure, and it was Clemson's worst loss since 2002 as a program.

I went into the matchup saying that the Tigers' CFP chances wouldn't be hurt by a loss. But I wasn't expecting a 41-point drubbing.

Naturally, the first thing some people might think is that Clemson needs a change under center. Christopher Vizzina did not look good against LSU. But guess what? Neither did Tait Reynolds, nor did anyone else on the Tigers' roster.

Absolutely nothing went Clemson's way in Baton Rouge, and the defeat demonstrated that the Tigers have far more issues than just who is taking snaps.

Maybe LSU really is just that good, but even still, 51-10? I think even Lane Kiffin was surprised that his squad beat Swinney's group by such a laughable margin.

But seriously, if you're going to bench Vizzina for that loss, then everyone who started on Saturday evening should ride the pine against Georgia Southern next Saturday … a game that is suddenly enormous for Swinney.

Vizzina deserves another chance to prove himself. Remember: he looked more than serviceable in his lone start against a decent SMU team last season, so it's only fair to give him a chance next weekend.

Now, if Clemson somehow loses to Georgia Southern? Then it won't even matter what Swinney decides to do at quarterback, because he might not even make it to Week 3. That's how bad this has gotten.

But does anyone honestly believe that Reynolds would give the Tigers a better chance of winning their next game?

At this point, Clemson's issues run deep. And the funny thing is, its roster actually looked pretty good on paper heading into the campaign.

Could Paul Finebaum have been right all along? Is it possible that Swinney really can't coach at a high level anymore?

Whatever the case may be, Vizzina should be back under center for Week 2. At this point, going to Reynolds wouldn't solve anything.
