VITALS:

QUOTABLE: This is the first meeting between the teams. The two-game agreement features the Wildcats playing in Pullman Sept. 8, 2029. The Wildcats are coming off a 71-3 victory in Nicholls. The Cougars fell 24-10 to the Washington Huskies in their opener. Both teams have first-year coaches. Klein, who played quarterback at K-State, is back after a two-year stint as offensive coordinator with the Texas A & M Aggies. The Cougars are led by Kirby Moore, who spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for the Missouri Tigers. Both coaches faced off against each other assistants while working in the SEC. WSU quarterback was an FCS freshman All-American last year at UC-Davis before hitting the transfer portal. He was also the Big Sky Freshman of the Year. He is up against K-State three-year starter Avery Johnson, who threw for three touchdowns in the season opener.

K-State coach Collin Klein on Washington State quarterback Caden Pinnick: "I think he's incredibly tough. That was a physical game yesterday afternoon just watching it on TV. He stood in there at times and made some big-time plays throwing the ball, getting hit under duress, and how he put the offense on his back and a couple of those drives to put the game in contest there early in the second half. I think he's a really, really good football player, and we have to have a good plan for him."

QUOTABLE II:

Washington State coach Kirby Moore on K-State's offense: “Lot of variety in the run game. The quarterbacks are part of the run game as well, and then they have play actions that they want to get people vertically down the field.”
