After a weekend of attrition, Michigan State football’s availability report heading into Saturday’s trip to Wisconsin is chock-full.
The biggest issues are at linebacker, where captain Jordan Hall is listed as doubtful and fellow starter Brady Pretzlaff is among three considered questionable heading into the 12:30 p.m. kickoff against the Badgers (BTN).
Backup linebackers Dion Crawford and Cam Stodghill also are listed as questionable.
Hall injured his left foot on the first play of the second half of Saturday’s 31-13 loss to Nebraska. Pretzlaff was injured a week earlier in a loss at Notre Dame, while both Crawford and Stodghill each had to leave the field but returned against the Cornhuskers.
MSU coach Pat Fitzgerald said Monday that running back Cam Edwards will miss the rest of the season after the Connecticut transfer suffered an apparent right knee injury in the Spartans' loss.
At cornerback, starter Tyran Chappell is listed as out after being a pregame scratch against Nebraska. Chappell, who was in the press box with a boot on his left foot and walking with crutches, was listed as questionable on the three weekly availability updates for MSU (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten).
Fellow starting cornerback Tre Bell is listed as questionable after getting hurt during warmups Saturday and not playing. NiJhay Burt took over as a starter, but he also will be out along with Keshawn Williams for the Spartans against Wisconsin (3-1, 1-0).
Starting left guard Conner Moore, who left the Nebraska game early in the first quarter, is considered questionable for Saturday, as is defensive end Cal Thrush.
Others who remain out for MSU are fullback Jay Coyne, offensive lineman Tristan Comer and tight end Joe Caudill.
For the Badgers, cornerback Cai Bates, wide receiver Jaylon Domingeaux and offensive lineman Michael Roeske are listed as out. Running backs Abu Sama III, Bryan Jackson II and Mason Lane all are questionable, while offensive lineman Emerson Mandell, tight end Ryan Schwendeman and punter Sean West are considered probable.
The MSU-Wisconsin availability report, and others around the league, will be updated Thursday and Friday, per new conference rules. A final availability list will be released two hours before kickoff Saturday.
